Nigeria News wishes to inform the general public of the Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State, Nigeria, a full licensed private university approved by the Federal Government in May 2007 invites suitably qualified candidates for the vacant positions of UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN and SENIOR LIBRARIAN.
(A) THE POSITION OF UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN
The University Librarian who is a Principal Officer shall be in-charge of the University Library. He shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the operations of the Western Delta University library.
For the post of University Librarian, candidates must be innovative, versatile and proactive with vision, good managerial ability, integrity and transparency in private and public life, and who should be able to provide the Management of the University with appropriate advice and support for all of the institutions library transactions. The right candidate should have ability to generate ideals that would facilitate the development of the Western Delta University.
Candidates must possess a good Honours Degree from a recognized university as well as a Master Degree in Library Science (MLS), with adequate Research Publications. The possession of a Ph.D will be an added advantage. Applicants must also be computer literate.
Candidates must have had at least sixteen (16) years of post-qualification full-time, cogent experience in a public/private university, the last five years of which must be at Management level.
(B) SENIOR LIBRARIAN
Qualification and Experience:
Same as that of the University Librarian, but with at least Ten(10) experience.
Salary and conditions of service:
The remuneration and conditions of service for the positions are as applicable in Nigeria Universities and as may be determined by the Governing Council from time to time.
The successful candidate for the post of the University Librarian shall hold office for a term of five (5) years in the first instance.
Fringe benefits include pension in consonance with the Contributory Pension scheme and appropriate allowances as may be approved from time to time by the university governing council.
