Enyimba FC head coach Paul Aigbogun has backed his side to recover from the disappointments of their CAF Champions League match day one defeat to Egyptian champions Zamalek and reach the semi-finals.
The Peoples Elephants were handed a 1-0 defeat by the White Knights at a wet Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt on Sunday.
They now occupy the third position on the log and must beat Group B leaders Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, who beat Algerian side Entente Setif of Algeria 2-0 on Saturday, in their next fixture to boost their chances of making it to the last four.
Aigbogun of Enyimba FC told news men that he is disappointed to see his side lose the game, but is upbeat they will turn things around in subsequent games.
“It’s a shame that we couldn’t win the game, but there is still much to play for as we still have five games to play in the group.”
“The next game against Mamelodi Sundowns is very important and we must do everything we can to ensure we don’t lose against them. “I have confidence in my players and I strongly believe Enyimba FC will make it to the last four.”
