Everyone love comfort and to be comforted that even the most faithful believers, can be confronted with sorrow, grief, and devastating hardship.
All of us go through difficult times in our lives and need comfort. For some of us the instances are few and far between, and the issues are not that serious. But for others the difficulties are almost constant and their nature is very serious, sometimes even life-threatening.
When circumstances are overwhelming and the outlook is totally bleak, what can we do? To whom can we turn? Is there any hope? The answer is “Yes!”
In God’s Word we find the most wonderful and encouraging news: God promises to set you free from your hardships and heavy burdens, from your captivity and enslavements by the wicked of this world. He also promises to walk with true believers through every trial and misfortune they experience.
But He not only walks with His people through their trials, He also brings them through victoriously. So no matter what grips a person’s life, he or she can be liberated by God’s salvation. God will rescue or deliver His people from whatever forces that hold them in bondage or hold them down.
What is Encouragement?
It is a deep sense of care, support and comfort for man; which God has promised, and for us to enjoy this love, care, support and comfort is to truly believe and follow the Lord and proclaim the good news of God’s salvation.
“I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass” (Is.51:12).
The LORD is greater than any trial or temptation that we may be facing; He is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth (Isaiah 40:28). Thus He oversees the earth and knows every- thing that is happening. Because He is everlasting—no beginning and no end—He is able to oversee and control all events of human history.
Do you have a friend who is struggling through a difficult situation? Meet with that person, listen to him, and offer words of comfort, encouragement, and hope.
God’s Word stands forever. Read the Bible daily, memorize verses that are especially meaningful to you without a doubt that God loves you and will walk with you through every struggle.
