The powerful imagery of a tree planted by the rivers of water highlights the need to stay deeply rooted in God’s Word so that we may grow strong in our faith.
The words of the Psalms speak to our spirit, encouraging us in our walk of faith, and also offering warning for going astray.
We encounter many distractions in this world that can pull our attention away from God.
Psalm 1 encourages us to stay faithful and be rooted in God’s word by meditating on His Word, and bearing fruit for the kingdom of God.
By doing so, we experience the breadth and depth of God’s love.
Now, who do you go to when you desire counsel? Seek God’s will, and pray that He will guide you to other godly men/women for mentoring and counsel.
Do you “delight” in God’s Word and to be rooted in God’s word? When people meet you for the first time, do they see the joy of the Lord in you?
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23). Does your life exhibit these fruits?
Today, make it a priority to spend time “meditating on his law day and night,” so that you might grow in faith.
And read Ephesians 3:14-20 in a spirit of prayer. Pray that you and other leaders you know may be “rooted and grounded in love.”
From time to time you will find yourself in the midst of ungodly people. Pray for the Holy Spirit to give you words that testify to the truth and righteousness of the gospel message. (Luke 12:12).
Do you have a group that you worship and pray with regularly? If possible, invite them to join you under a tree to study Psalm 1 together.
